Amphitheater history

In 1966, the local Musical Arts Association purchased over 500 acres of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There, they planned to build an outdoor music venue to host various performing arts events.

Construction on the amphitheater began in 1967. Taking just one year, the venue opened in 1968, with its first concert — a performance of Beethoven’s music — on July 19.

The venue was named after two supporters of the Musical Arts Association — Dudley Blossom Sr. and Dudley Blossom Jr. It had been designed to offer both seated and general admission areas, using the surrounding nature to its advantage in terms of views, staging, and sound.

While initially planned as an orchestra venue, Blossom Music Center soon attracted performers from a range of musical genres. Over the years, it has hosted everything from rock and pop to country music. In 2003, a renovation brought technology, access, and parking lots up to 21st-century standards, ensuring Blossom remains a popular music venue for years to come.

Flash photography and video recording is not allowed but you are welcome to take still pictures.
